Avila’s The Pen launches From Farm to Fork concept

WILLEMSTAD - The Pen is the fine-dining restaurant located at the Avila Beach Hotel.  The restaurant has been renovated and modernized last year and with a new look comes a new menu. Concept developer and Food & Beverage Manager Nico Dingemans paired up with Chef Noam van der Kaaij to create and implement this renewed culinary concept.

Chef de cuisine Van der Kaaij has worked in several Dutch Michelin star restaurants and will be cooking at The Pen under the theme “From Farm to Fork”. Nico Dingemans explains: “Curacao can be proud of its cuisine and local products and we are excited to highlight this with passion and a surprising culinary twist”. Avila will support local farmers with this new restaurant concept and offer their guests the opportunity to discover the taste of Curaçao in a gastronomic way.

Monday, October 1st, 2018 is the official start of the new “From Farm to Fork” concept. The launch will be a festive event in collaboration with star chef Matthijs Mulder from Dutch restaurant De Bloemenbeek. At 7 PM, 7 courses will be served for $ 70.00 per person considering the celebration of Avila’s 70th anniversary at the beginning of 2019. Avila Beach Hotel will donate 50% of the dinner revenue to Fundashon "Let's Grow Together", the charity raises awareness for healthy local food. They offer less fortunate and disabled children the opportunity to learn about local products on the farm of Hofi Cas Cora.

Singer and pianist Aemy Niafeliz will provide musical entertainment and. The Wine Factory as one of the sponsors, will be taking care the wine pairing. Reservation requests can be sent to [email protected] as there are only 70 seats available for this unique event.
